Dear Softball Student- Athletes and Parents:
We wanted to take the opportunity to let you know we have the pleasure of coaching your daughter this year and tell you that we come prepared, experienced, and excited to continue building a great program for Culver Softball. My coaching experience over the span of 30 years ranges from summer and traveling leagues, up to assisting with Culver's JV softball program in 2007 and as of 2012 accepting the Head Varsity Softball Coaching position to current. Coach Dawn Brockey’s experience includes four years of Varsity Culver softball while at Culver in the 90’s, to playing Division I softball at Indiana State University and coaching softball for 6 years at the JV/Varsity level at Culver. Coach Jerry Greeson is also our assistant coach for the 4th year at the Varsity level, and at the JV level, we are fortunate enough to have Susan Freymiller as head coach for the 2nd year, who has experience playing at the college level, as well. Finally, welcome Kaycie Pyle to the coaching staff as she assists Susan with the JV program.
We are particularly excited for the 2017 year, large in part because of the experience and progress we have made over the past few years, ending in a 13-6 for the 2016 season. Most of you remember that heartbreaking sectional 2-3 loss in the bottom of the seventh with 2 outs. The passion and love for the game that these ladies feel was evident then more than ever and it is taking us into the 2017 season with an increased desire to succeed.
As we continue in our journey of building a disciplined program, we hope you will mirror our philosophies as it comes to the team. We want to ensure that coaches, parents, and most importantly, the girls, have a positive experience throughout the entire season. Our goal is to have positive, focused players at all times, and we hope you can help us achieve that by limiting distractions while remaining supportive! And of course ask your girls about the MUSHBALL game we hope you are a part of!
As a coaching staff, we believe that teamwork is of the utmost importance, and positive attitudes can push all players to the next level. Our coaching will involve discipline if negativity or lack of teamwork is involved; however, we are nothing but excited and positive for the upcoming season and the promise it brings. We can assure you that your daughter is in good hands and will learn many softball and life skills by taking part in this program. Thank you for being a part of this success, too, and we look forward to meeting you after a future game! In the meantime, please check out our softball website more information on our softball coaching staff, schedules, and more!
